Helping Residents Get Tech Savvy In Waltham Forest

This month, our Social Value team with help from two of our Kickstart placements, ran the first of a series of Digital Inclusion sessions at one of our sheltered housing schemes in Waltham Forest, to get residents more tech savvy.

These sessions are incredibly important in helping residents keep in touch with friends and family so they don’t become isolated, and so they can get hold of any essentials they need online.

The sessions are split into three parts:

  • Staying in touch (creating emails and installing social apps such as WhatsApp and Zoom).
  • Online shopping (how to set up shopping accounts such as PayPal).
  • And finally, the third session covers anything else residents might need support with.

Our MSPS Head of CSR Helen Sheen was on hand to help on the day along with two of our Kickstart trainees, Alfie Lamb and Amy Daniels. Over the next few months, the team will be rolling out these sessions across several of our other sheltered housing locations.

“Supporting residents’ young and old to access the world of digital is an incredibly important part of our social value offering. Our Kickstart trainees and elderly residents have created a really positive intergenerational programme, with all ages benefitting.” – Helen Sheen

For residents wishing to attend one of our upcoming sessions, you can book all three parts or register to attend individual sessions by contacting your scheme manager. You can bring your own devices or can use devices at the session.

If you live at any of the below locations and would like to participate or volunteer at these sessions, contact csrbox@morgansindall.com
