Morgan Sindall Property Services Appointed to Retrofit 2,200 Homes on behalf of Amplius

Morgan Sindall Property Services (MSPS) been appointed to deliver a £40m Social Housing Fund (SHF) Wave 3 contract, on behalf of Amplius.

More than £20 million of government money has been provisionally allocated to Amplius to help improve the energy efficiency of homes, through Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund Wave 3. This provisional award is the second highest amount out of 127 successful Challenge Fund bids.

MSPS are already undertaking upgrades to over 581 homes as part of Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund Wave 2.1, which aims to be completed by the end of June. The project has improved the energy efficiency of homes located throughout the East Midlands, North Lincolnshire and West Norfolk, which all currently have an energy rating below EPC C, which will increase to EPC C post works.

The next part of the project will aim to retrofit 2,000 homes with measures such as including loft and cavity wall insulation, solar PV panels, LED lighting, air source heat pumps and external wall insulation.

As part of the project, MSPS will also work with Amplius to use innovative solutions, including smart thermostats, ventilation upgrades, air and ground source heat pumps, night storage heating systems and photovoltaic panels.

Mustafa Mustafa, Head of Decarbonisation, Morgan Sindall Property Services said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to continue our partnership with Amplius and support in delivering their net zero targets, which we’ve already achieved success as part of the SHF programme 2.1.

“Our bespoke retrofit programme has already enhanced the energy efficiency of nearly 600 homes across five regions: Northeast Lincolnshire, Rutland, King’s Lynn, Nottinghamshire and North Northamptonshire.

“We look forward to working with even more residents, to improve their living conditions and the energy efficiency of their homes.”

Marcus Keys, Chief Development and Commercial Officer, said: “Sustainability and energy efficiency are key focuses for us as an organisation and this money will help us drive forward with our plans to enhance our existing housing stock.

“We’re committed to providing warm, safe and secure homes for our customers and by securing this funding, which we’ll also match-fund, we’ll be able to continue the excellent work from wave 2.1 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund and roll-out energy efficiency improvement measures to even more of our customers.

“I’m delighted that our bid was successful and that we managed to provisionally secure the second-highest award from government. This is a real testament to the hard-work and dedication of all my colleagues working on this programme and I’m looking forward to progressing with wave 3.”

Fallon Warren, Head of Environment and Sustainability, added: “We’ve got a strong relationship with Morgan Sindall Property Services and the results from wave 2.1 of the project have been amazing, with customers already seeing the benefits of the energy efficiency improvements made to their homes. I’m looking forward to getting started on this wave and really making a difference for our customers and improving their homes.”

So far, MSPS have supported four clients in securing £60m in SHF wave 3 funding, which to date has included £44m in SHF funded works. This has included the delivery of 4,021 PAS2035-compliant energy efficiency improvements to over 1,287 homes in the UK.
