Optivo chooses MSPS as preferred gas servicing contractor for £10m contract

Housing provider Optivo – one of the UK’s largest housing associations – has appointed Morgan Sindall Property Services (MSPS) as preferred bidder to deliver gas servicing, boiler replacements and heating upgrades for its South London housing stock.

From 9 October 2017, MSPS will maintain heating systems for more than 8,000 homes, mainly located in and around Croydon, through a contract potentially worth £10 million over five years.

It will see MSPS provide annual servicing and 24/7, 365-day breakdown cover as well as a rolling programme of boiler and heating system replacements. The maintenance specialist will also take responsibility for 10 communal heating systems and a number of electrical heating systems.

Optivo was formed in May 2017 following the merger of AmicusHousing and Viridian Housing and provides over 44,000 homes for residents across London, the South East and the Midlands.

Geoff Davies, head of procurement at Optivo, says: “We’re delighted to be partnering with MSPS and look forward to working closely with them in the future.”

The appointment of MSPS by Optivo follows on from the recent contract success for the company with CityWest Homes.

Paul Reader, MSPS partnerships director, says: “Our growing presence in the heating services and compliance market has seen MSPS secure further contracts in direct competition with some of the UK’s leading heating maintenance contractors. We are very excited to be helping Optivo – which is now one of the UK’s biggest housing providers – in this crucial area.”
