Morgan Sindall Support Basildon Council Staff Awards
Morgan Sindall were proud sponsors at Basildon Council’s Staff Awards held at Basildon’s Towngate Theatre on 25 April. The awards recognise and reward Council Staff and teams that have gone above and beyond the call of duty. The award categories included:
- Community Contribution Award
- Innovation Award
- Value for Money Award
- Working Together Award
- Graduate/Apprentice Award
- Shining Star Award
- Improving Lives Award
- Employee of the Year Award
Morgan Sindall were main sponsors of the event as well as sponsoring the Employee of the Year Award category. Managing Director Gary Lester was invited to join Basildon Council’s CEO Bala Mahendran on stage to announce the winner.
In Bala’s speech he said: ‘The Employee of the Year award goes to an individual who exemplifies the council’s core values, behaviours, characteristics and who has contributed exceptionally to the council.
The winner is someone who approaches varied, challenging and complex tasks with a refreshing can do attitude. She uses high levels of emotional intelligence and a sense of humour to navigate often tricky and sensitive issues and is able to quickly get the heart of the matter and suggest an appropriate solution or action. She is hard working, organised and doesn’t make a fuss but gets on with the job. She shows real commitment to the organisation, often going the extra mile and nothing is too much trouble.
Effective team work is key to success in the council and our winner has taken this to heart and exemplifies good team work.’
Louise Evans, a Project Officer from Basildon Council’s Commercial Services department was crowned the winner and commended for exemplifying the council’s values.
Gary Lester said: “For us, our Partnership with Basildon Borough Council goes beyond our basic commitments to providing integrated maintenance services. It’s about demonstrating our support for the wider council by encouraging and rewarding employees that drive continuous improvement in service delivery and genuinely care about their jobs and the communities they serve. Congratulations to the winners and all staff that were nominated.”
