Morgan Sindall Property Services Complete Upgrade to Sheltered Scheme in Basildon


Improvement works to the Parkhurst Road Sheltered Scheme in Basildon are complete, breathing new life into homes for residents on the scheme.
The refurbishment project delivered by the Morgan Sindall Property Services (MSPS) planned works team, will significantly enhance the living conditions of those living in the scheme, comprising of 24 homes and 36 residents.
The project involved works to improve the comfort and energy efficiency of homes for residents. The works included new flat roofs to all homes, a new roof to the communal hall, installation of soft touch handrails to all access ramps to improve accessibility, redecoration of the communal hall as well as the installation of a new kitchen and bathroom within the communal area, as well as fire risk work to improve the safety of the individual homes.
Councillor Adele Brown, Cabinet Member for Planning and Infrastructure said: “This is more than just a refurbishment. It’s about giving residents the safe, warm, and modern homes they deserve. The transformation at Parkhurst Road Sheltered Scheme means people can live with greater comfort and security. It’s a shining example of our commitment to ‘5 in 2025’. By modernising living spaces, enhancing accessibility, and creating safer, more welcoming communities, we’re building a better future for Basildon and ensuring our residents get the very best.”

To mark the completion of the project, MSPS held an afternoon tea for residents where the MSPS social value team donated a pergola for the sheltered scheme garden. The renovations to the scheme were carried out as part of Basildon Borough Council’s planned works programme on council homes.
