Spreading Holiday Cheer and Making a Difference in Westminster
As the festive season unfolds at Morgan Sindall Property Services (MSPS), we’re proud to reflect on how we’ve been working hard to make a positive impact in the Westminster community through our Social Value activities. Giving back to the communities we serve is something we deeply value, and this festive season has been a wonderful opportunity to put that into action. We’ve been involved in a range of initiatives aimed at supporting those who need it most, and we’re pleased to share the difference we’ve made together.
Here’s a look at how we’ve been giving back this festive season:
£1k Donated to West Central London MIND
Mental health is a crucial part of our social value commitment, and we’re delighted to have donated £1k to West Central London MIND. This donation will go towards their Community Programmes, which include initiatives like Eco-therapies, Music in Mind, Creative Writing, Filmmaking, and Mental Wellness (Yoga, Movement and Mindfulness). These programmes help ensure that everyone, particularly those facing mental health challenges, has access to the support and respect they deserve. We believe in the power of community, and we’re honoured to contribute to such meaningful work.
£4k to North Paddington Foodbank
Christmas can be a challenging time for many, especially when funds are tight. That’s why we’re so pleased to have donated £4k to the North Paddington Foodbank. This donation will provide supermarket vouchers for around 66 families, offering vital support during the festive season. The foodbank’s work goes beyond just food – it includes Babybank, customer advice and support, and ensuring families don’t need to rely on foodbanks long-term. It’s a privilege to be able to help provide some relief and joy to families in need this Christmas.
£1k to Westminster Council’s Parkinson House Projects
Community-led projects are at the heart of building a strong, connected society, and we’re thrilled to support the Parkinson House Projects in Westminster. We’ve donated £1k towards a new social room at Parkinson House, funding much-needed furniture to create a warm, welcoming space for residents. This project is an excellent example of how grassroots efforts can make a big difference in fostering a sense of community and belonging.
£1k to Queens Park Community Council
We’ve also donated £1k to the Queens Park Community Council, which is split between two fantastic initiatives:
1. Community Ice Skating Event (December 22nd) – This event will bring people together for some festive fun on the ice, creating a space for social interaction and celebration. We’re excited to see the images from this joyful event once it takes place!
2. Queen’s Park Winter Social (December 20th) – This annual event focuses on tackling social isolation, particularly for older residents. It offers a festive Christmas lunch, a quiz with prizes, Christmas carolling, dancing, and small gifts like chocolates, biscuits, and toiletries. We’re so proud to support this event, which will bring warmth and connection to those who might otherwise spend the holiday season alone.
As we continue through the festive season, we’re reminded of how powerful it is when communities come together to support one another. These initiatives represent just a part of our ongoing commitment to creating positive social value in Westminster, not just at Christmas but all year long. We believe that by supporting local causes, we can make a lasting difference to the lives of those around us.
Helen Sheen, Head of Social Value, Morgan Sindall Property Services said: “At this time of year, it’s more important than ever to come together as a community. As a major contractor in the area, we take our responsibility to support the local community seriously and work with Westminster wherever possible to co-design activity to support the community. We are incredibly proud to contribute to the amazing work being done in Westminster, and these initiatives reflect our commitment to supporting those who need it most.”
We are incredibly grateful to be part of such a vibrant, resilient community, and we look forward to continuing to contribute to meaningful change in Westminster. Together, we can create a brighter, more inclusive future for everyone.
