Welwyn Hatfield Tenants to Benefit From Energy-Efficient Home Retrofit
Morgan Sindall Property Services (MSPS) and Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council (WHBC) held a series of meet-the-contractor sessions to brief tenants on upcoming energy efficiency works planned for their homes.
The works will make retrofit changes to tenants’ homes so that energy consumption is reduced, resulting in lower energy bills and a healthier, more comfortable home for residents and their families.
The drop-in sessions provided an opportunity for tenants to meet with MSPS and WHBC Planned Maintenance teams and find out more about the benefits of the proposed improvements as well as addressing any queries they might have had.
There are various options available to tenants under the retrofit programme including external wall insulation, loft insulation, double glazing replacements, improved heating controls and improved ventilation.
Head of Decarbonisation, Mustafa Mustafa, from Morgan Sindall property Services said: “We are committed to working closely with our clients to support their net zero targets, and we are really proud to be working on this important project with WHBC. Resident engagement is key to the success of such projects, so it was great to see so many people at these sessions. The retrofit works will make homes healthier and more comfortable for residents to live in, and we can provide other advice and support to help residents reduce their heating bills, for example through our regular energy advice cafes.”
Councillor Lynn Chesterman OBE, Deputy Leader of the Council and Executive Member for Housing, said: “I was delighted to see so many tenants at the drop-in sessions. The retrofit works that are being undertaken are an important part of the Council’s programme to make its housing stock more energy efficient as well as helping tenants save money on energy costs at the same time. WHBC has an ambition for the whole of the Welwyn Hatfield to be net zero by 2050 and the retrofit programme is a great way for our tenants to help us achieve that target.”
