Morgan Sindall Property Services Collaborates with Basildon Council on Climate Change Campaign
This week Basildon Council launched their campaign Small Changes, Big Impact with the aim of highlighting how the council is working to become carbon net-zero by 2030, and what residents can do to help contribute to the 2050 target of making the whole borough carbon net-zero.
Energy efficiency in the council’s housing stock is a high priority for the campaign, with Morgan Sindall Property Services leading a programme to fit homes with external wall insulation (EWI).
EWI involves application of an insulation layer to the outside wall of a building in order to improve the building’s energy efficiency. It helps to keep a constant temperature inside the house and avoiding fluctuations between hot and cold.
Morgan Sindall Property Services have already installed EWI to 780 properties with 200 more planned for 2022, alongside double-glazed windows, doors and eco tech combi boilers. EWI can also provide energy saving benefits, for example for a bungalow, £150 can be saved per year on energy bills.
Glenn Monksfield, Partnership Director said: “We are delighted to be involved in this campaign and as a business fully committed to improving the energy efficiency in the council’s housing stock. Our programme to fit homes with external wall insulation (EWI) is a great example of partnership working in action. We have worked closely with both the council and our supply chain partners to make sure homes in the borough are more energy efficient, benefiting residents but also most importantly our environment.”
