Tom Madden wins Tenant Lifetime Contribution Award
Tom Madden, an EastendHomes (EeH) tenant, was recently honoured with a Tenant Lifetime Contribution Award at the National Housing Heroes Ceremony, in Manchester on Monday 24 June.
Mr Madden, is 89 years young, but regrettably due to limited mobility he was unable to travel to Manchester for the event, so it was accepted on his behalf by John Henderson, Managing Director at EastendHomes. Tom lives in a ground floor flat on the Westferry Estate in Isle of Dogs, London and despite his age and limited mobility, he’s determined to maintain his independence and continue living on his own. EeH presented the award in his home a few days later.
When Morgan Sindall Property Services (MSPS) learnt of the award they were keen to find out if there was something they could do to recognise this achievement. Tom asked if they could decorate his living room and hallway as this would make a big improvement to his quality of life given that he now spends so much of his time at home.
Paul Bloss, Chief Executive at EastendHomes, said “We were delighted that all of Tom’s efforts over the years have been recognised in this way. The work undertaken by MSPS will make a real difference to Tom’s everyday life.”
Mr Madden, said “I am so pleased with my newly decorated hallway and living room, the operatives who completed the works were very polite, tidied up after themselves plus I felt very comfortable while they were working in my home. I’m thrilled my flat has had a new lease of life; thank you again they did a wonderful job!”
Ade Onileyan, Partnership Manager on the EastendHomes contract at MSPS, said “Congratulations to Tom for winning this fabulous award and we were thrilled to assist in completing this work. It was a delight and real treat to meet him, we are glad he is very happy with the works we’ve done and enjoys the space for years to come.”
