Low Carbon Fleet
When we replaced our fleet of Lovell-branded vehicles, we chose a solution that cuts our monthly carbon emissions.
At Morgan Sindall Property Services, we are serious about our environmental responsibilities. For us it is part of respecting the communities in which we work. We also believe sustainability is a catalyst for business growth, so it is integral to all our processes, procedures and decision-making.
When we reviewed our fleet management strategy, we kept both our clients and sustainability at the forefront of our minds.
As a company, we have committed to reducing our carbon emissions by 5% year-on-year, so our new fleet needed to contribute to this overall target. Increasing fleet fuel efficiency would also allow us to continue to deliver a cost-effective service to clients and residents alike.
We chose to replace our fleet with a variety of diesel-powered Ford Transit vans – the majority from Ford’s fuel-efficient ECOnetic range. Delivering an average 9.3% increase in fuel efficiency compared with our previous fleet, we calculate that our 232 new vans will cut our regular monthly carbon emissions by around 10%.
Each vehicle is fitted with a speed limiter to further improve fuel efficiency and Masternaut vehicle tracking to encourage safe and economical driving habits.
As part of our fleet management strategy, we are continuously reviewing new technologies. To that end, we are currently testing a hybrid commercial vehicle and currently have a long-term electric-powered van on trial, with a view to committing to running multiple electric vehicles across the UK.
